Geforce Fx 5500 Driver Xp

Further to have better graphics during game play, I recently purchased NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500 256MB AGP 8x Video Card. Since, I have installed this card, windows has installed it's default driver set 'Microsoft Generic Display Drivers' and the quality of graphics is de-rated. Also the wide screen resolution 1366x768 is now not available. The best resolution which I have now is 1024x768. In this resolution, the Windows graphics looks very odd on my 19' LG wide screen monitor.

Geforce Fx 5500 256mb Drivers

I tried to install Graphics card drivers provided on NVidia site for older version of Windows, however the drivers are not installed with a error message 'Drivers Not Compatible with This Version of Windows'.

The default drivers taken by windows has older release date than drivers provided on OEM site for Windows XP.

Or how can I force install the older drivers in Windows 8.
