Alas, after my trying many avenues of resolve as spelled out over the net, I had to call in a

computer guru and his many manpulations finally found a remegy and being relatively

computer iliterate I cannot elucidate.

Hope you don't mind this contact but (approx 1 year after you posted) I have the same problem i.e. my deskjet 3420, part of the 3600 series, is on but won't print. I've tried many things, including downloading a driver, etc; but still it's no go. Did you manage to fix it?

Howdy Mike.

Alas I got fed-up with adjusting / amending / trying to get the damned

thing to respond. So I paid (approx) £34 inc VAT to HPdirect for an HP DESKJET 1050A

replacement and it performs superbly many more tasks than possible with the

deskjet 3420. The HPdirect offering is far cheaper than the same impliment

purchased thru other companies. - £70+ being asked for elsewhere.

Thanks for that, Ken. I've finally managed to get the printer working and, thanks to info from someone else, discovered that a color is missing from the new cartridge I've just installed!
