Matshita CD/DVD drives are commonly used in compact computers such as laptops and netbooks. When you upgrade or update your Toshiba laptop's Windows-based operating system, you may lose important drivers or files that allow your drive to read and write data on CDs or DVDs. This issue most often occurs when you upgrade your Toshiba laptop to Windows Vista. Repairing this issue in Windows requires editing the file registry related to your Matshita CD/DVD drive.
Step 1
Click on the 'Start' menu icon in the lower left corner of the desktop screen. Type 'regedit' into the Start menu's search box. Wait for a list programs to populate in the search results. Select 'regedit' in the list of programs.
Step 2
Enter your system's administrator password when prompted. Click on the 'Continue' button to proceed. Select 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}' in the list of registry files in the regedit program.
Step 3
Right-click on 'UpperFilters' in the right-hand panel of the regedit window. Click on the 'Delete' button, and then click on the 'Yes' button to confirm this deletion.
Step 4
Matshita Drivers Uj-841s
Right-click on 'LowerFilters' in the right-hand panel of the regedit window. Again, click on the 'Delete' button, and confirm the deletion by clicking on the 'Yes' button.
Close the 'regedit' window, and restart your Toshiba laptop.
