I have mac os 10.4 and have installed mac os 9.2.2 off a 10.2 software restore cd, and I have a Genius branded usb optical mouse (model gm-04004A) and a Genius branded usb keyboard (model KKB-2050HS) which has a windows layout, but works fine in mac os x with the command and option modifier keys switched over in prefs. When I try to use it in mac os 9, the only keys that work are the selection keys: up down left right and tab. When I try to use the mouse, it is like I have got shift permanently held down (not specific to by genius mouse, this also occurs with my trackpad). I click once and the item is selected, twice and it is de-selected, when I double click quickly it is to the same effect. If I click to select one item and then click on another they will both be highlighted, and any other following items bar ones that I then click on again to de-select. As soon as the keyboard is disconnected, the mouse works perfectly, as does my built in laptop keyboard. I have tried an official apple keyboard which has worked perfectly, and on another computer I have witnessed a wireless Genius branded keyboard mouse set work perfectly (on mac os 9).
Sorry if I have given too much detail but I don't want to leave anything neccessary out. It would be very much appreciated if I could have a solution to this problem as it has caused me trouble for quite some time now.
