Casio Inc. on Tuesday unveiled two new point-and-shoot Exilim digital cameras: the EX-Z750 and the EX-Z75. The 7.2 and 5-megapixel cameras are expected to hit store shelves in April with suggested retail prices of US$449.99 and $399.99 respectively.
The EX-Z750 features a 3x optical zoom lens and 2.5-inch LCD display. In addition to recording up to 7.2 megapixel still pictures, the new camera records movies as well, using MPEG-4. It can record 640x480-pixel movies at up to 30 frames per second.
The EX-Z750 also sports a 0.9-second startup, continuous shooting mode, aperture and shutter priority, 'Best Shot' mode, and simple video editing built-in. Batteries last for about 325 shots per charge. The camera connects to a Mac or PC using USB 2.0, and A/V outputs in the camera's included cradle allow it to be connected to a TV or video monitor. It's compatible with PictBridge and USB Direct-Print-compatible printers. The camera features 8.3MB of built-in flash memory and also writes to SD and MMC flash memory cards.
The EX-Z75 is only a 5-megapixel camera but it sports a bigger display -- 2.7 inches -- and a 3x zoom lens. Its batteries last even longer -- 400 shots per charge, according to Casio. Other features include Auto Pan Focus mode, 1.6-second startup, Business Shot function, which adjusts photos taken at an angle to appear as though they were taken from straight ahead -- good for whiteboards and business cards, according to Casio -- 7-point multi-auto focus, the ability to automatically generate HTML photo albums, and more. The EX-Z75 features 9.3MB of internal flash memory and writes to SD and MMC memory cards.
